Dean is a former professional hockey player who grew up in Northern Canada. Upon his retirement from hockey, he studied E-commerce at the University of South Alabama. After university, he returned to Canada to join a major real estate development company in Victoria, British Columbia where he was part of one of the largest real estate development projects in the country.  Dean enjoys volunteering his time coaching youth hockey, spending time at the lake and playing golf.

- Grew up in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta and played minor hockey for the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers.
- Worked as a stick boy for the Edmonton Oilers from 1987-1990 including 2 Stanley Cup Championships.
- Played Junior hockey in the Western Hockey League for the Portland Winter Hawks and Prince Albert Raiders before turning pro with the San Jose Sharks organization.
- Hockey Canada Certified coaching level "Development 2".
- USA Hockey Certified Level 4 Coach
- Coached all levels of minor hockey in Victoria, BC.
- Spent 2 years as assistant coach of the Victoria Grizzlies of the BCHL Junior league.
- Over 2 year period, helped advance 26 players to the NCAA on hockeyscholarships and had 5 players drafted to the NHL.
